Studying the Bible through Aramaic Eyes

This course invites the student to return the biblical text to its Semitic home. Rather than approaching Scripture through later Greek or Latin abstractions, we read it as a living Aramaic discourse spoken, heard, and embodied within the worldview of the ancient Near East.

Through the language of ܐܪܡܝܐ (Aramaic), the student learns to perceive meaning not merely as definition, but as movement, relationship, and function. Words are studied according to their triliteral roots, concrete imagery, and cultural logic. Theology emerges organically from language, not imposed upon it.

The course trains the eye to see Scripture as the ancients saw it: covenantal rather than contractual, communal rather than individualistic, dynamic rather than static. Idioms, parallelism, oral patterns, and Eastern modes of thought are carefully examined so that familiar passages may speak again with unfamiliar depth.

In short, this is not only a language course, it is a reorientation of perception, restoring the Bible’s voice to its original cadence and its message to its native soil.
