About the event
St. Simeon the Stylite (c. 389–459 AD) was a Syrian ascetic who transformed the pillar into a place of prayer, prophecy, and intercession.
For thirty-seven years, he lived atop a column near Telanissos, standing between earth and heaven on behalf of the world.
His life was not an escape from humanity, but a visible witness that holiness can confront society without descending into it.
From his pillar, emperors sought counsel, crowds sought healing, and the Church beheld a living sign of unwavering faith.
