Titled "Developing Identity", this webinar showcases the work of three extraordinary photographers: Micha Bar-Am, Erich Hartmann, and Inge Morath. Each offering a unique, intimate window into Israel’s early challenges, triumphs, and growing pains.
📷 Erich Hartmann – From Holocaust to Homeland
Having survived the darkness of Nazi Europe, Hartmann brought a quiet reverence to his documentation of Israel’s rebirth. He focused on immigrant life, agricultural labor, and community building, seeing each moment as a light after darkness. His famous “Bread Cart” photo, a woman and child pulling bread in Ashkelon, captures the spirit of Hebrew labor and family unity. Hartmann’s sensitive lens also witnessed Israel’s civic milestones, including Independence Day celebrations (1961) and the dedication of Yad Vashem, always balancing historical significance with emotional depth.
