Genesis 49:30–31: "Abraham bought the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, east of Mamre in Canaan, from Ephron the Hittite to use as a tomb. Abraham and his wife Sarah are buried there. Isaac and his wife Rebekah are buried there. I also buried Leah there."
The Meaning of Machpelah: Known in Hebrew as Me'arat HaMachpelah (מְעָרַת הַמַּכְפֵּלָה), meaning "Cave of the Double", referencing the double caves purchased by Abraham as a legal burial plot for his family.
