Meaning “fortress” in Aramaic, Masada stands proudly above the glistening Dead Sea, offering one of the most awe-inspiring panoramas in all of Israel. Built by King Herod over 2,000 years ago, this mountaintop fortress served as a royal palace before becoming the last stronghold of Jewish freedom fighters. Today Masada remains a powerful symbol of resilience, hope, and the human longing for freedom , and continues to be the third most visited site in the Land of Israel.
